Timeline Updated After Media Storm in Norway
Due to the recent media attention and criticism in Norway—where Torben and his family are now living—the timeline has been updated with additional documentation to bring clarity and prevent misunderstandings.

One of the repeated claims is that Torben overstayed his visa. This is not true, and the timeline now clearly documents why.
Key official documents have been added, including from April 22, 2019, when U.S. authorities acknowledged receipt of Torben’s asylum application through the I-797 Notice of Action. This is a crucial date, as it confirms that Torben entered a legal process before his 90-day visa waiver expired on April 25, 2019, giving him legal permission to remain in the United States while the case was pending.
Additional documentation now included:
Biometrics appointment (fingerprints)
Work authorization approval
Together, these documents clearly show that Torben was in a legal process and did not overstay his visa.
We have also added the first document Torben received in jail. It states that he had been examined by a medical professional and was classified as obese, and therefore should remain in custody.
None of this made sense, as Torben had not been examined and the information was incorrect. Torben is not and has never been obese. Even though he later lost a significant amount of weight in jail, he had never been obese.
You can find this document in the timeline under June 30, 2022.
The timeline also includes references to statements made by Clay Higgins, who serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security.
The documentation is now placed directly within the timeline.
More documentation will be added as the timeline continues to be updated.
