They Are Calling My Name - A Taste of the Audiobook

A Taste of the Audiobook — Living for the Return of Christ, To God’s Glory

I hope you are all doing well out there.

There are many things on my heart these days—things God has been working deeply in me—and I would like to share some of it here, as I believe it can be a blessing to you.

If you are one of those who follow the development of AI and what is happening in the world today, you will see how fast things are moving. It is clear that the world as we know it is about to change in a very dramatic way.

And I believe God is working in His body to prepare us for what is about to come.

In that connection, there are a few things I would like to share with you.

They Called My Name

I have just released a new video where I share chapter 30 from my audiobook 412 Days — Persecuted for Christ—the day I was released from jail after more than one year and finally saw Lene again.

That was a very special and emotional day.

But as I share in the video and the book, it is nothing compared to that day when we will all stand before Jesus and finally see Him face to face.

In jail, after waiting and waiting, it finally happened.

While I was on the phone with my friend Kim, I suddenly heard my name over the loudspeaker:

“Torben Søndergaard, pack up.”

And I remember it so clearly.

I said:

“Kim… Kim… they are calling my name… I am leaving.”

Everything happened very fast.

Within minutes, I was out the door with everything I had—my Bible, my papers, my mattress.

After more than 400 days, I was leaving that place.

The day after, I arrived in Germany, where my wife and daughters were standing on the other side of the doors at the airport.

I had been longing for that day. Dreaming about it. Waiting for it every single day.

And as I walked toward those doors, something happened inside me.

It suddenly became clear:

One day… it will not be my wife standing on the other side.

One day it will be Jesus.

One day we will go through that door—and He will be there, waiting.

And in that moment I understood something deeper:

The longing.
The joy.
The end of the separation.

All of it was just a small shadow of what is coming.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…”
Revelation 21:4

“They will see His face…”
Revelation 22:4

What a day that will be.

But at the same time, I also saw something else.

For some, it will be the most beautiful day in their life.

But for others… it will be the most terrifying.

Because they are not ready to meet Him.

We Must Live for That Day

This is what God did in me during that time.

He did not just give me teaching about the Kingdom of God—
(and in a few months I will also release the Kingdom book I wrote in jail).

He gave me not only theology, but an experience—a taste of that day.

And I believe we need to come back to this in the church today.

The early disciples lived with this expectation.

They were living for the return of Christ.

And I truly believe that day is near.

When we look at the world today—AI, technology, everything changing so fast—we are entering a time where the world will look very different in just a few years.

In the middle of all this, we need a strong foundation.

We need to stand firm in our faith.
We need to live for eternity.

To God’s Glory — Not Ours

This leads to the other thing I want to share today—something God has been working deeply in me:

God’s glory. God’s honor.

We often say, “Glory to God.”

But many have stopped thinking about what that really means.

There is so much in those words.

Because the truth is:

It is not about us.
It is about Him.

The Bible says:

“He saved them for His name’s sake, to make His mighty power known.”
Psalm 106:8

None of us deserved it.

And still—God saved us.

Why?

For His name’s sake.

The Bible also says:

“Your sins are forgiven for His name’s sake.”
1 John 2:12

We were not saved because we were good.
We were not saved because we deserved it.

We were saved for His name—because it is all for His glory.

From Saved for His Name → To Living for His Name

Now we are called to live for His name—to bring glory and honor to Him.

“Whatever you do… do it all for the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31

This is not just about church.

This is everything:

How you speak.
How you work.
How you treat people.
Who you are in secret.

Jesus lived like this:

“I have brought You glory on earth…”
John 17:4

Even in suffering, He prayed:

“Father, glorify Your name.”
John 12:28

This should also be our prayer:

God, glorify Your name in my life and through my life.

You Carry His Name

This is serious.

Our lives can either bring glory—or bring shame to His name.

“God’s name is blasphemed… because of you.”
Romans 2:24

But Jesus said:

“Let your light shine… that they may see your good works and glorify your Father.”
Matthew 5:16

Not glorify you.

Glorify Him.

The Question

One day…

Your name will be called.

One day…

You will walk through that door.

The question is:

Are you ready?

Are you living for that day?
Or are you living for yourself?

“Those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him…”
2 Corinthians 5:15

Final Words

I don’t belong to myself anymore.
My life is not my own.
I was bought with a price—as the Bible says.

And this is true for all of us.

Now we live for one purpose:

To give Him glory.

We were not created to make our own name great.

We were created to make His name great.

And one day…

He will call my name.
He will call your name.

And I believe God is preparing us for that day more and more as the time is coming near.

This is what I had on my heart to share with you.

Otherwise, we as a family are trying to be faithful to what God is calling us to. It is not always easy. We have stood in many trials and testings, and the experience from jail is still in us.

But in all of it, we are also seeing God’s power flow through us to others.

And with our focus on that day—when He will call our name—we long to hear:

“Well done… you have been faithful.”

God bless you, and thank you for your prayers and support.

Let us together live the life He is calling us to live—

for His glory.
